A Life of Purpose & Service
Roots in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Luketa M'Pindou was born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo (then Zaire), where he developed a deep passion for community service and Francophone culture from a young age.
Arrival in Canada
Luketa immigrated to Canada and settled in Alberta, joining a growing community of Black Francophones who had made the province their home. He quickly became a voice for integration, inclusion, and cultural pride.
Co-Founding AJFAS
Recognizing a critical gap in services for Black Francophone youth and families, Luketa M'Pindou co-founded the Alliance Jeunesse-Famille de l'Alberta Society (AJFAS). His vision was to create a welcoming space where community members could find support, celebrate their culture, and build a future in Alberta.
Building Programs from the Ground Up
Under Luketa's leadership as Executive Director, AJFAS launched landmark programs in youth mentorship, family integration support, French-language education, and entrepreneurship development — all tailored to the unique needs of Black Francophone Albertans.
Provincial and National Recognition
Luketa's work earned him recognition from provincial and national Francophone bodies. He became a sought-after speaker and advocate, representing Alberta's Black Francophone community at conferences, policy forums, and cultural events across Canada.
25 Years of Impact
In 2024, AJFAS celebrated its 25th anniversary — a milestone that stands as a testament to Luketa's enduring dedication. From a small grassroots initiative, AJFAS had grown into a provincial organization serving over 1,000 families and operating multiple community programs.
A Living Legacy
Luketa M'Pindou continues to lead AJFAS with the same passion and humility that defined his journey from the DRC to Alberta. He is widely regarded as a pillar of Alberta's Francophone community and an inspiration to the next generation of Black Francophone leaders.
