A moment charged with emotion and history during the launch of the ACFA centenary

A moment filled with emotion and history unfolded at the launch of the ACFA’s (Association canadienne-française de l’Alberta) centennial celebrations at the Macdonald Hotel in Edmonton, the very place where it all began 100 years ago.
A magnificent ceremony, marked by a symbolic relay across the province, served as a reminder of the strength, continuity, and vitality of Alberta’s Francophone community.
On this occasion, Minister of Culture, Arts and Women Tanya Fir announced that 2026 has been officially declared the Year of La Francophonie in Alberta—a powerful and forward-looking recognition. Long live Alberta’s Francophone community: diverse, proud, and resolutely focused on the future!
We also welcome the presence of the Mayor of the City of Edmonton, Andrew Knack, as well as that of the President of the FCFA of Canada, Liane Roy, whose commitment testifies to the importance and influence of the Francophonie at the municipal and national level.
